WATSONVILLE — Since Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Chona Killeen started her position ion July 1, she and her department have hired more than 100 new teachers.
The Pajaro Valley Unified School District on Wednesday was still looking for 22 teachers, a number that is shrinking as candidates come in for interviews less than a week before classes resume, Killeen said.

Petersburg’s human resources director, Nicole Milner, has been fired, according to multiple sources. Milner assumed the position in January, and she was hired by the Robert Bobb Group.
She replaced former director Lorraine Adeeb, who resigned in November but stayed with the city quite some time afterward to help with the transition. At one point, the city was paying both Adeeb and Milner at the same time.
After less than a year as San Bernardino County’s human resources director, Cindi Peterson Tompkinshas resigned.
Tompkins, of Redlands, resigned Monday, county spokesman David Wert said in an email Tuesday. He said county labor relations chief Bob Windle will be the acting HR director until Tompkins’ permanent replacement is appointed.
The county refused to release a copy of Tompkins’ resignation letter or say why she resigned, maintaining that information was confidential.
CLINTON — The Clinton County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved the hiring of the county’s first human resources director.
Frederick County will have a new human resources director next month.Wayne C. Howard, who worked most recently as the head of human resources for the Baltimore Convention Center, will start in the position on Aug. 21.
He takes over for the county’s long-serving human resources director, Mitch Hose, who will retire Aug. 31 after 38 years with county government.
